Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carl Jordam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and AJ Arroyo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, AJ Arroyo!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Mauricio Rocha and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Arroyo. No joy for Jordam on that attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Jordam is controlling the position but Arroyo somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
Jordam thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Arroyo wants to improve his position but Jordam is controlling well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Arroyo throws a right hand that Jordam ducks under and follows up with a left that Jordam also avoids with ease.
Jordam looks to land a combination. Arroyo sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Jordam chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Arroyo can pounce on him.

Arroyo clinches with his opponent.
Arroyo lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Jordam wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Arroyo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Jordam counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

AJ Arroyo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jordam shoots in but Arroyo avoids the takedown attempt easily.

The fighters circling - Arroyo throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
No luck for Arroyo with that takedown attempt.

Jordam has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Jordam. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Jordam moves into range and clinches up with Arroyo.
Jordam lands a hook that snaps the head of Arroyo backwards.

Arroyo misses with an elbow strike.
Jordam tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Arroyo just stands there and leans against the cage.

Arroyo swings wildly with an uppercut but Jordam uses good head movement to avoid it.

Jordam stalling in the clinch but Arroyo improves position.

Arroyo has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Jordam regains guard immediately.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Arroyo in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Arroyo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jordam works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

and Arroyo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Jordam tries to close the distance and clinch up but Arroyo swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Arroyo throws a jab but it's blocked by Jordam.
Arroyo throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jordam punishes Arroyo's body with a nice straight punch.
Jordam moves in looking to clinch but Arroyo pushes him off.
Jordam lands a jab-cross combination.
Jordam fails in his attempt to clinch.
Arroyo misses with a wild combination.
Arroyo connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Arroyo falls off balance throwing a combination

and Jordam counters by moving into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

AJ Arroyo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Jordam keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Jordam moves out of range as Arroyo strikes.
Jordam lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Arroyo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jordam.

The fight stays on the outside here - Jordam looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Jordam shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jordam showed some decent athleticism there.

Arroyo misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Arroyo is looking for a sweep. Jordam is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Arroyo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jordam. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jordam is trying for a kimura here. Arroyo looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Jordam wins by kimura!
