PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 23823 p4p, 23775 weight class) and Kulata Bitok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 46 - 5, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 48 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kulata Bitok!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Bitok shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Buktot pinned against the cage. Buktot gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Buktot swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Buktot closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bitok circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buktot tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Bitok defends well and Buktot ends up having to push Bitok into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Bitok is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Bitok is trying to trip Buktot. He has hold of a leg but Buktot is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Bitok persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Bitok is standing up over Buktot. Buktot looks to escape but Bitok dives into side control.

Bitok wants to lay and pray for a moment but Buktot keeps working.
You can see the frustration on Buktot's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bitok controlling the position.
Bitok trying to control the position but Buktot is working away.
Buktot can't do much from the bottom here.

Buktot is looking to regain half guard here but Bitok keeps moving and retains side control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Bitok staying calm.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Bitok looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bitok stalling.
Buktot trying to control here.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kulata Bitok dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Buktot gets caught flat footed, as Bitok shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Buktot looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buktot wants to sweep but no luck.

Bitok stays in close to Buktot's body and controls the position.
Bitok throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Buktot is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bitok shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Buktot pinned against the cage. Buktot gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Buktot has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Bitok is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bitok controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Bitok trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Buktot is controlling Bitok's posture.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Buktot darts in looking for a takedown but Bitok gets double underhooks and turns Buktot into the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Buktot tries for a takedown but Bitok manages to get underhooks.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kulata Bitok showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Dawindi Buktot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kulata Bitok.

Buktot tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bitok swivels and escapes.
Bitok steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Buktot shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bitok defends it nicely.
Bitok thinks about the counter body kick.

Buktot fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bitok sprawls well initially but Buktot persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Buktot prevents Bitok from improving his position.
Buktot perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Bitok has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Buktot is working away from the top position though.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Buktot is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bitok wants to control but Buktot is having none of it.
Buktot can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bitok is looking to escape.
Buktot avoids the attempt from Bitok to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Buktot controlling his opponent.
Bitok slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Dawindi Buktot has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kulata Bitok is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Bitok trying to hold on to Buktot's head to control him but Buktot postures up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dawindi Buktot showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Bitok has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
