Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alphonse Fuguego (ranked 14 p4p, 50 weight class) and Luuk Benjamin (ranked 2 p4p, 6 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Alphonse Fuguego!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Luuk Benjamin!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Donald Grub and Daniel Bishop.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Fuguego.
Benjamin swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Fuguego fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Benjamin looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
A big left from Fuguego misses.
Fuguego misses with a body shot.
Fuguego lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Fuguego dives in and grabs Benjamin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Benjamin pushes down on Fuguego's head and hops out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Benjamin looks to score with a jab to the body but Fuguego is just out of range.

and Benjamin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Benjamin throws a push kick but Fuguego slaps the foot to one side.
Fuguego throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Benjamin only half commits to the counter leg kick.

Benjamin appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Fuguego throws a hook but Benjamin blocks it.
Benjamin unleashes a big counter combination but Fuguego bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Benjamin swats away the attempt to clinch by Fuguego.
Fuguego has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Fuguego there as he acknowledges the shot.

and Fuguego counters with a single leg into guard. Benjamin didn't expect that.
Fuguego might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Fuguego won't allow Benjamin to get back to his feet.
Fuguego loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fuguego throws an elbow that misses. Benjamin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Fuguego's guard. Nice move by Benjamin!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fuguego controls Benjamin momentarily but Benjamin frees himself.

Benjamin wants to stand but Fuguego has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Fuguego working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Benjamin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Benjamin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fuguego is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Benjamin decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Fuguego lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Benjamin at a distance.
Fuguego is looking to wear down Benjamin with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Benjamin misses with a lunging right hand
and Fuguego makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Fuguego fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

That kick from Fuguego tenderised Benjamin's leg. Benjamin is trying to keep his angry face on.

A looping hook to the body misses from Fuguego. Benjamin does a little dance to reset his feet.
Benjamin displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Fuguego throws out the jab.
Benjamin lands with a shot to the body.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Fuguego.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Benjamin counters with a good low kick that Fuguego was not able to check.
A punch lands to the side of Benjamin 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Benjamin sizes up Fuguego with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Fuguego cracks Benjamin with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Benjamin takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Fuguego uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

enabling Benjamin to counter with a crisp jab.

Benjamin cracks Fuguego with a right hand to the side of the head.
Oh Fuguego is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fuguego throws a sloppy body shot
and Benjamin counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Fuguego out cold! What a finish! Benjamin is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!
