Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kyoji Horiguchi (ranked 1947 p4p, 2449 weight class) and Quintin Mullen (ranked 141 p4p, 163 weight class). Kyoji Horiguchi could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Quintin Mullen's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kyoji Horiguchi!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quintin Mullen!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mullen misses with a jab, cross combination.
Horiguchi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mullen swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Horiguchi has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Mullen finds it's way round the side to connect with Horiguchi's head.
Mullen lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Horiguchi circles away quickly and effectively.
Horiguchi takes one to the side of the head.
Mullen works over Horiguchi's head and body with a nice combination.

Horiguchi is rocked!
Mullen fails to land with a series of punches.
Horiguchi attempts a counter takedown but Mullen avoids it well and moves away.
Oh Horiguchi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Horiguchi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mullen's waist but Mullen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Horiguchi off to one side.
Horiguchi seems to have got his legs back now.
Quintin Mullen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mullen moves into range and connects with a jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Horiguchi keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Horiguchi shoots in and drives through. Mullen sprawls well.
Mullen throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Horiguchi attempts a counter takedown but Mullen avoids it well and moves away.
Horiguchi tries a head kick but it misses.
Mullen moves into range and connects with a jab.

Mullen dodges the punch combination from Horiguchi.

Mullen takes a swing at Horiguchi's ribcage but misses.
Horiguchi throws a quick counter kick to the body but Mullen avoids it.
Horiguchi walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Horiguchi ducks under a wild hook from Mullen.
Mullen misses with a hook. Horiguchi ducked under it nicely.
Horiguchi throws a sloppy head kick and Mullen moves out of range easily.

and Mullen counters by moving into the clinch.
Mullen has a couple of punches blocked by Horiguchi.
Horiguchi is trying to push Mullen away but Mullen has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Horiguchi looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Mullen prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kyoji Horiguchi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mullen lands with a right to the head.

Mullen lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Horiguchi backwards.
Mullen lands a shot to the body.
Nice body punch from Mullen.
Mullen lands with a short shot to the head.
Horiguchi drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mullen gets the underhooks and prevents it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mullen pushes Horiguchi back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Horiguchi has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Mullen after a bit of a struggle.
Horiguchi is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Mullen lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Mullen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Mullen lands a hook to the side of the head.
A nice right hand lands inside from Mullen.
Horiguchi changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mullen fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Mullen falls off balance throwing a combination
and Horiguchi connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Mullen throws a jab but it's blocked by Horiguchi.
Mullen throws a jab when Horiguchi was well out of range.
It looked like Horiguchi was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

A swing and a miss from Horiguchi.
Nice defenses there by Horiguchi.
Sloppy strikes from Mullen. Those never looked like landing.
As Mullen looks to move away, Horiguchi throws a big counter combo but Mullen just gets out of the way.
Horiguchi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Mullen scores with the left hand. Horiguchi knows he should have avoided that one.
Mullen might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Jab, jab by Mullen - just one landing.
Horiguchi jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Mullen misses the shot to the body.
Horiguchi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Nice shot lands for Mullen.

Mullen throws the left hand but Horiguchi avoids the punch easily.
Horiguchi went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Mullen lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Mullen looks to throw the jab but Horiguchi is out of range.
Mullen is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Horiguchi had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
A big left from Mullen misses.
Mullen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mullen wants it to stay on the feet.
Mullen throws a left and a right that both miss
and Horiguchi counters with a nice uppercut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A telegraphed right hand from Mullen misses the target.
Horiguchi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mullen scores with a jab to the body.
Horiguchi moves out of range as Mullen strikes.
As Mullen looks to move away, Horiguchi throws a big counter combo but Mullen just gets out of the way.
Mullen swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Horiguchi seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Quintin Mullen dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Mullen slaps away a takedown attempt from Horiguchi, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Horiguchi, as that shot connected.
Mullen bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Horiguchi's head backwards.
Mullen listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Mullen throws a body shot but no joy.
Horiguchi takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Mullen avoids the head kick by Horiguchi.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mullen lands a right hook to the body.
A punch lands to the side of Horiguchi 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Horiguchi throws a half hearted mid kick.
Mullen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Horiguchi manages to avoid it.

Horiguchi ducks right into an uppercut from Mullen.
Horiguchi slips a straight right by Mullen.
Mullen loads up on a big right hand but Horiguchi slips the punch.
Mullen punishes Horiguchi's body with a nice straight punch.
Mullen digs a good body shot into Horiguchi's ribs.
Mullen throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Horiguchi counters with a series of strikes. Mullen will be more careful next time no doubt.
Horiguchi walks into a stiff left hand from Mullen.
Mullen slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Horiguchi gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Mullen.
Horiguchi slips under a jab.
Horiguchi appears to be looking for a big counter.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Horiguchi uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Mullen.
Horiguchi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mullen's waist but Mullen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Horiguchi off to one side.
Quintin Mullen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Horiguchi tests Mullen's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Mullen dips to his left and cracks Horiguchi with an uppercut!
Horiguchi takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Mullen missing with a left hand there. Horiguchi was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Mullen scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Mullen throws a shot to the body.
Mullen cracks a nice hook into Horiguchi's ribs.
Mullen is breathing heavily.
Mullen misses with a looping right.
The fighters circling - Mullen throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Mullen scores with a hook to the body. Horiguchi takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Mullen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Mullen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Horiguchi decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Mullen is refusing to be controlled, as Horiguchi sits in half guard.
Horiguchi takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Mullen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Horiguchi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Horiguchi is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Mullen has managed to free his arm - good work.
Horiguchi works his way into full mount!

Mullen is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Horiguchi locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Mullen is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kyoji Horiguchi!

A very excited looking Kyoji Horiguchi made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
