The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Mesquita gets tackled into the ropes by Gracie. Gracie maintains the clinch.
Gracie tries for a takedown but Mesquita manages to get underhooks.
Gracie drags the fight down to the ground.
Mesquita sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gracie's guard.
Mesquita is working for a kimura but Gracie is defending it quite comfortably.
Gracie won't allow Mesquita to pass to mount.
Gracie is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie continues to stall.
Mesquita is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gracie is just riding it out for now. Mesquita eventually gives up the hold.
