The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mercer throws a series of punches but Gaines moves out of range.

Gaines fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Mercer on the side of the head.

and Mercer counters with a straight right hand.

Gaines looks to land a left hand but Mercer moved out of range nicely.

It looks like Craig Mercer has been cut.

and Mercer counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Oh Mercer is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mercer slips a jab from Gaines.
Mercer seems to have got his legs back now.
Mercer lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gaines circles away quickly and effectively.
Gaines swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Good leg kick by Mercer there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Gaines lands a hook that stumbles Mercer back into the cage. Gaines follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Mercer to the canvas! Gaines pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Mercer has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
