Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yoji Anjo Anjo (ranked 2906 p4p, 5303 weight class) and Paul Herrera (ranked 342 p4p, 510 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 33 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yoji Anjo Anjo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paul Herrera!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paulsen Ambrosius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herrera tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Anjo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
The fight stays on the outside here - Herrera looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Anjo keeps the fight on the outside.
Anjo went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Herrera lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Herrera.
Anjo looks to land a combination but Herrera avoids it well.

Herrera decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Anjo pushes Herrera off and gets back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Herrera moves into the clinch.

Herrera breaks the clinch.
Herrera fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Herrera swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Anjo counters by moving into the clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Anjo fails to land.
Anjo is looking for a takedown.
Anjo tries to pull guard but Herrera forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Anjo definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Anjo is looking for a takedown.

Anjo is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Herrera gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Herrera jumps guard but Anjo stands there with Herrera around his waist. Herrera gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Anjo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Anjo wants to control from the top but Herrera keeps moving.

Anjo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Anjo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Herrera looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Herrera is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Anjo trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Anjo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Herrera works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Herrera is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Anjo stands and throws Herrera's legs to the side, diving into side control.
You can see the frustration on Herrera's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Herrera bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Paul Herrera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Herrera fails with an attempt to clinch.
Herrera fails with a takedown attempt.
Herrera displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Anjo.
Herrera shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Anjo sprawls well. Anjo wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Herrera gets slowly back to his feet.

Anjo drives through and clinches with Herrera against the cage.

Herrera breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Some wild striking there from Herrera.
Anjo slaps away a takedown attempt from Herrera, before circling back to the center of the mat.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Herrera shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Anjo tries to kick Herrera off in order to stand up. Herrera Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close round but I would say that Yoji Anjo Anjo will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Herrera shoots in for a double leg but Anjo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Herrera closes the distance and clinches up with Anjo, looking for a takedown. Herrera pushes Anjo against the cage but Anjo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Anjo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Anjo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Herrera as he avoids it easily.
Herrera looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Yoji Anjo Anjo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Herrera not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Anjo gets back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Herrera wants to stand but Anjo has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Herrera trying to control but Anjo is working from the bottom.

Anjo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Herrera defends it easily.
Anjo tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Anjo isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Herrera stacks Anjo on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Herrera!

Herrera wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Anjo, who protects the arm well.
Anjo is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Herrera's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Anjo is positioning himself well to prevent Herrera advancing to mount.
Herrera tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Anjo.

Herrera is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Anjo moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Anjo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Herrera manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Anjo leaves Herrera with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Paul Herrera showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Anjo is defended easily by Herrera.

Herrera connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Paul Herrera comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Herrera has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
