Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Glenardo Silva!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Demente Maia!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia fails in his attempt to clinch.
Silva swats away the attempt to clinch by Maia.
Silva shoots in looking for a takedown. Maia tries to sprawl out of it but Silva keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Maia manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Demente Maia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maia fails in his attempt to clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Maia. No joy for Silva on that attempt.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Silva connects with a nice short shot to Maia's temple.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maia is looking to improve his position.
Silva is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Silva is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Maia doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Silva.

Maia escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Silva gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Maia has his foot on Silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Silva works his way back into a safe position though.
Maia is trying to control the position but Silva postures up.

Maia is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Silva defends well.
Silva is pushing down on Maia's leg trying to pass to half guard. Maia is fighting to maintain full guard but Silva has managed to sneak the leg through.

Silva winds up and cracks Maia with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Silva uses his free foot to push down on Maia's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Maia.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Silva in particular looking to stall.
Silva has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Silva throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Maia was covering up waiting for the punch and Silva finishes the takedown easily into guard.
