PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sao Alela (ranked 1858 p4p, 3083 weight class) and Jackie Chan (ranked 220 p4p, 337 weight class). Alela kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Cryin' Like a Bitch. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 35 - 29 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sao Alela!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Jackie Chan!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paul Aken and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alela connects with a good right hand that stumbles Chan. Chan circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Alela throws a body shot but no joy.
Alela misses with a straight left.
A left lands for Alela.
Alela connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Alela throws a head kick that misses.

Chan fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Alela to the ground. Chan is now in Alela's guard.

Alela has his feet on Chan's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Chan gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Chan gets caught flat footed, as Alela shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Alela stays in close to Chan's body and controls the position.

Chan is trying to drag Alela to the mat but Alela just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Alela fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Chan has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Chan tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Sao Alela seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Alela sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Chan somewhat.
Alela is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Chan can do to turn this around?

Chan dives in and grabs Alela's left leg, looking for a takedown. Alela pushes down on Chan's head and hops out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

Alela throws a nice looking combination but Chan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Chan feints the counter takedown.
Alela throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Chan's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Alela connects with a body shot that sends Chan's belly button to the back.

Chan rushes Alela and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Alela is pressed up against the cage. Chan has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Alela down to the mat. Alela avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Chan tries to close the distance and clinch but Alela swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Alela throws a leg kick which misses Chan's front leg but catches the back leg as Chan tries to avoid it.
Alela lands a jab to the head.
Alela uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Alela misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Chan lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Alela is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Alela throws a hook but Chan blocks it.

Alela lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Alela seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Chan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Alela is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Chan has managed to free his arm - good work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Alela's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Sao Alela is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Chan tries to get to full guard but Alela has control of the leg.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Chan blocks a head kick by Alela.
Alela slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Alela lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Alela is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Chan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Chan takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Chan fails with an attempt to clinch.
It looked like Alela wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sao Alela showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Alela has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
