PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jean Claude (ranked 3975 p4p, 4025 weight class) and Oleg Brabec (ranked 449 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jean Claude!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Oleg Brabec!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Eddie Farnsworth and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Claude closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Claude connects with a nice short shot to Brabec's temple.
Claude not doing much here.
Claude drops an elbow to the side of Brabec's head.
Claude controlling the action here.
Claude looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Brabec with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Claude is controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Claude slips a nice elbow through Brabec's hands, connecting with Brabec's forehead.

Claude is nestled in close to Brabec, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Brabec really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Claude. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Claude landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Claude is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Claude seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Claude lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Brabec is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Still in half guard, Claude seems content to control.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Claude connects with a nice short shot to Brabec's temple.
Brabec tries to kick Claude off but Claude keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Claude slows the pace down in half guard.
Claude drops an elbow to the side of Brabec's head.
Claude is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Claude working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Claude lands a nice short elbow.
Claude frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Claude is landing with some decent strikes but Brabec is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Brabec trying desperately to get to his feet.
Claude takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Claude cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Claude lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Brabec hang on?
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jean Claude dominated that round.
That's time! Claude's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Claude throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Brabec was covering up waiting for the punch and Claude finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Claude controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brabec has momentary wrist control but Claude slips an elbow through the middle.
Jean Claude overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Claude lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Claude slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Claude works over Brabec with some ground and pound from guard.
Claude is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Claude has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Claude pushes down on Brabec's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Claude has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
BOOM! Claude connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Claude lands a couple of good shots and Brabec has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Claude is working the ground and pound. Can Brabec escape?

Brabec is rocked!
Claude controls the action.
Brabec is still in real trouble! Can Claude finish him?
Brabec seems to have recovered his senses.
Brabec grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Claude is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Brabec can do to turn this around?
Brabec is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Claude.

Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Claude.
Claude is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Brabec up.

Claude lands strikes to the head.
Claude is scoring with a succession of shots from the back. Brabec is covering up - he's had enough and the ref steps in to end the fight!
