This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 44 wins and 28 losses; Vasiliy Kulik! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Daniel Bishop and Chris Edwards.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Wang shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kulik as he avoids it easily. Kulik tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Kulik closes the distance and clinches. Wang goes for a takedown in the clinch but Kulik prevents it.

You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Wang controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Wang is looking for a sweep. Kulik is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Kulik is trying to control the action in half guard but Wang is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Kulik tries to pass the half guard into mount. Wang knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Wang wants to control but Kulik is keeping busy and won't allow it. The fighters are battling for position here. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Kulik manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wang manages to get himself to full guard.

And that's the end of the fight! Kulik wins on points by 10 to 2. After winning the bout, Vasiliy Kulik thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. Long Wang spoke after the fight, saying 'No worries. Everyone here knows my opponent has a bad habit of testing positive for PEDs, so I'm sure this fight will soon be ruled a 'No Contest' by the Athletic Commission.'. |
