And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 2 losses; Jamal Hudak!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Josh West.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Hudak drives through and clinches with Shalit against the cage.
Hudak can't get the takedown.

Shalit jumps guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Shalit's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Shalit working for submissions but it's allowed Hudak to get to half guard.
Shalit wants to improve his position but Hudak is controlling well.
Hudak is taking a breather. Shalit says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hudak is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Hudak is thwarting Shalit's attempts to control the position.

Shalit is defending against the submission attempts here by Hudak.

Hudak is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Shalit has managed to free his arm - good work.

Hudak is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Shalit manages to get to full guard.

Shalit working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hudak doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hudak manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shalit controls Hudak momentarily but Hudak frees himself.
Hudak trying to control but Shalit is working from the bottom.

Shalit pushes a forearm under Hudak's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Hudak is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
