Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lil Russo (ranked 1835 p4p, 1810 weight class) and Maman Suraman (ranked 211 p4p, 208 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lil Russo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Maman Suraman! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Illya Tyunina and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Russo tries to close the distance and clinch but Suraman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Suraman with the counter takedown but Russo avoids it easily. Suraman shoots in and drives through. Russo sprawls well. Russo has closed the distance and engaged Suraman in a clinch.
Russo misses with some punches.
Suraman goes for a takedown attempt but Russo pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Russo throws a lazy right hand but Suraman sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Suraman with the counter takedown but Russo avoids it easily. Suraman circles away from the clinch attempt.
Suraman shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Russo sprawls well. Russo wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Suraman gets slowly back to his feet. Lil Russo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maman Suraman. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Suraman keeps the fight on the outside. Suraman is looking for the big counter here. Suraman looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Russo misses with a double jab
and Suraman counters with a single leg into guard. Russo didn't expect that.
That's one minute gone in the round. Suraman controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Suraman is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Suraman controlling from the top position. Russo keeping full guard, as Suraman tries to pass. Suraman sitting in guard here, content to control. Suraman trying to control but Russo is working from the bottom. Suraman content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Suraman wants to pass the guard but Russo is keeping the position. Russo definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Suraman slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Suraman pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Russo is keeping the position for now. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Suraman keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Russo's head. Suraman is pushing down on Russo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Russo is fighting to maintain full guard but Suraman has managed to sneak the leg through. Suraman looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Suraman passes the guard and advances to mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Suraman takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Suraman looking to finish with strikes here!
Russo is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Russo avoids a series of strikes thrown by Suraman.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Suraman looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Suraman goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Russo turns into him and now he's in Suraman's guard.
Russo throws a big elbow that misses. Russo is fighting to break Suraman's control of his arms but Suraman is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Suraman working a defensive guard here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Suraman wants to stand but Russo is controlling the position. Suraman has momentary wrist control but Russo slips an elbow through the middle. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Maman Suraman dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Suraman shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Russo as he avoids it easily. Russo walks into a left hand. Russo takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Russo was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Lil Russo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Suraman keeps the fight on the outside. Sloppy strikes from Suraman. Those never looked like landing. Suraman tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Russo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. It looked like Russo wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Russo looks to clinch and Suraman counters with a shoot takedown. Russo fights it but they end up in guard. Suraman throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Suraman scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Suraman with a flurry of punches that miss. Suraman trying to control the position from guard on top but Russo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Suraman slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Suraman wants to control from the top but Russo keeps moving. Russo can't keep his opponent in guard - Suraman advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Suraman in particular looking to stall. Suraman is trying for a kimura here. Russo looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Suraman wins by kimura!
