The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aurelius goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Rocha throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Aurelius throws the left hand but Rocha avoids the punch easily. Aurelius misses with an uppercut. Aurelius tries to clinch but fails miserably and Rocha counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Rocha postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Aurelius is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rocha, into his guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Rocha escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Aurelius gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Aurelius wants to pass the guard but Rocha is keeping the position. Rocha can't keep his opponent in guard - Aurelius advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rocha is doing well to control the position and prevent Aurelius from advancing to side control. Aurelius throws a strike but Rocha manages to get a kimura sweep and he's found himself on top with the kimura half locked in! This would be a real turnaround! He's torquing it... Will Aurelius tap??? YES! He's tapped! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jorge Rocha! A less than humble Jorge Rocha misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
