Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Boom Johnson (ranked 5296 p4p, 2993 weight class) and Fedor Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Boom Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Fedor Emelianenko!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Emelianenko closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Johnson's guard.
Emelianenko pushes down on Johnson's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Emelianenko throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Johnson pushes Emelianenko off looking to stand but Emelianenko dives back in and keeps control.

Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Emelianenko on the ground.

Emelianenko is taking a breather. Johnson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

It looks like Emelianenko might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Emelianenko is continuing to stall.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Johnson tests Emelianenko's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Johnson seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Emelianenko fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Johnson avoids it really well and circles away.
Boom Johnson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

enabling Johnson to counter with a crisp jab.
Boom Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fedor Emelianenko.

Emelianenko closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Johnson to the mat! Johnson manages to get full guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Johnson is working to avoid the ground and pound but Emelianenko connects with a decent elbow.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Emelianenko manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Johnson on his heels. He'll look to pass Johnson's guard now, I'm sure.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Emelianenko. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Emelianenko accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Emelianenko has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Emelianenko is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Let's hope that Emelianenko has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Emelianenko closes this distance looking for a takedown but Johnson circles away.
Johnson scores with a sloppy right hand. Emelianenko should have avoided that one.
Johnson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Emelianenko doesn't seem bothered though.
Johnson connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Johnson fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Emelianenko shoots in for a takedown but Johnson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Boom Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fedor Emelianenko.
Johnson is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Emelianenko fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Johnson sprawls well initially but Emelianenko persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Emelianenko is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Johnson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Emelianenko has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
