Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jaxx Jackson (ranked 4665 p4p, 4138 weight class) and Charles Darwin (ranked 290 p4p, 272 weight class). Charles Darwin is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jaxx Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Charles Darwin! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Roosa Järviläinen and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson gets caught flat footed, as Darwin shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Jackson trying to keep a closed guard but Darwin is proving a slippery customer.
Darwin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Jackson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Jackson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jackson! Darwin tries to improve position but can't. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Darwin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jackson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Darwin looks winded! Jackson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jackson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Darwin defending against the ground and pound. Jackson trying to control the position but Darwin is working away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Darwin dodges the ground and pound from Jackson. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Darwin manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Darwin prevents Jackson from improving his position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jackson tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Jackson wants to control but Darwin is keeping busy.
Darwin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Darwin gets a takedown into half guard. Jackson tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Darwin manages to move to mount!

Jackson defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Darwin. Jackson wants to hold on but Darwin pushes him away. Darwin should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's one minute gone in the round. Darwin is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Jackson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Jackson shrugs it off. Darwin has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Darwin is breathing heavily. Darwin is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Jackson is surviving well by controlling Darwin's body position as best he can. Darwin looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Jackson tries to hold on but Darwin pushes him away. Darwin goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Jackson turns into him and now he's in Darwin's guard.
Jackson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Darwin on the ground. Jackson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

No, Jackson has managed to get both his arms back between Darwin's legs - danger averted. Darwin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jackson is one step ahead there.

Jackson works his way back into a safe position though. Jackson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Jackson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Jackson postures up in Darwin's guard and throws a big left but Darwin blocks it. Darwin is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Jackson trying to control the position from guard on top but Darwin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! No luck with that takedown attempt from Jackson. Darwin throws a fast counter high kick but Jackson manages to duck under it in time. Jackson feints a jab promting Darwin to slip. Jackson then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Darwin slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Charles Darwin will probably get the nod - 10:9. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Jackson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Jackson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Darwin swivels and escapes. Jackson connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Jackson closes the distance and clinches up with Darwin, looking for a takedown. Jackson pushes Darwin against the cage but Darwin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jaxx Jackson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jackson scores with a nice head shot. Jackson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Darwin. Jackson attempts a counter takedown but Darwin avoids it well and moves away. Darwin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Jackson is looking to reverse the position. Darwin looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jackson misses with a two punch combination.
Darwin wants to counter the offense by Jackson and move into the clinch position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jackson. Darwin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Jackson wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Darwin manages to pass to side control. And that is the end of the round. That was a close round but Jaxx Jackson did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Darwin is looking for a triangle but Jackson pushes his legs off easily.
Jackson stands and steps away. Darwin gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Jackson forces Darwin back against the cage and clinches. Darwin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jackson smiles and moves away.
A head kick misses from Jackson. Jackson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Darwin on his heels. He'll look to pass Darwin's guard now, I'm sure. Darwin is looking for a guillotine. That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Darwin has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Jackson is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Darwin yanks on the arm and Jackson is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Darwin.
