PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 23975 p4p, 23926 weight class) and Kulata Bitok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Kulata Bitok enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 48 - 5, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 48 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kulata Bitok!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Buktot drives through with a takedown into Bitok's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Buktot postures up.
Buktot trying to control but Bitok is working from the bottom.
Buktot seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Bitok looking for a sweep. Not yet Bitok, not yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buktot controls from within his opponent's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Buktot postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Buktot fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bitok avoids it really well and circles away.
Bitok appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bitok shoots in and bounces Buktot off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Bitok not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
It looks like Bitok might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Bitok's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Buktot is pulling down on Bitok's head. It's preventing any offense from Bitok, at least for the moment.
Bitok is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Buktot shoots for a takedown but Bitok saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kulata Bitok dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Bitok has his takedown stuffed
and Buktot counters with a head kick. That will keep Bitok thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Buktot fails with the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buktot looks to land a body kick but Bitok moved away.
Bitok looks for a takedown but Buktot sprawls well.
As Bitok looks to move away, Buktot throws a big counter combo but Bitok just gets out of the way.

Buktot throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bitok was covering up waiting for the punch and Buktot finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bitok is controlling Buktot's posture.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Bitok is trying to control the position but Buktot postures up.
Buktot sitting in guard, not really doing much.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bitok is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Buktot sitting in guard here, content to control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bitok tries for a takedown but Buktot sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Dawindi Buktot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kulata Bitok.

Bitok counters with a body kick.

Buktot gets caught flat footed, as Bitok shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Bitok gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Buktot counters with a good, hard body kick but Bitok shrugs it off.
Bitok shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Buktot defends it nicely.
Buktot throws a quick counter kick to the body but Bitok avoids it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Buktot.

Buktot just content to control the position.
Bitok is not content to let Buktot control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
I wouldn't like to be where Bitok is right now.
Dawindi Buktot overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Bitok being controlled for a moment.
Bitok is trying to control Buktot's posture but Buktot avoids it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Buktot remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bitok shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Dawindi Buktot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kulata Bitok.
Horrible takedown attempt by Buktot or perhaps it was just good defense by Bitok, which made it look bad.
Bitok follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Bitok stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bitok wants it to stay on the feet.

No luck for Buktot with that takedown attempt.

Dawindi Buktot showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Buktot has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
