PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Minatay Mibangon (ranked 23914 p4p, 23934 weight class) and Walay Buut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 47 - 9, fighting out of Las Vegas, Minatay Mibangon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 46 - 35 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walay Buut!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Buut.
Mibangon shoots in looking for a takedown but Buut manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mibangon's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Mibangon shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Buut counters with a two punch combo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mibangon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mibangon wants it to stay on the feet.
A quick step to the side and Mibangon tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Mibangon will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Buut is looking for the big counter here.

Buut throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Buut fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Mibangon closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Buut scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Mibangon manages to mount him!

Buut is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Mibangon takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Mibangon wants to control the pace but Buut is squirming around nicely.
Buut is working to get back to half guard.
Mibangon controlling his opponent.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mibangon's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Buut wants to hold on but Mibangon pushes him away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Buut shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Buut was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Buut's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Let's hope that Buut has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Mibangon darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Mibangon is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Buut keeping hold of Mibangon's head, controlling as best he can.
Buut trying to get back to full guard but Mibangon takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Buut tries to hold on but Mibangon postures up.
Mibangon controlling from the full mount.
Mibangon trying to control but he's not successful this time.

That was a close second round but I would say that Minatay Mibangon will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

No luck for Buut with that takedown attempt.
Mibangon looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Mibangon leaves Buut with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mibangon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Buut tries to avoid it but Mibangon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Buut to the ground. Buut escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Buut doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

Buut scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Mibangon wants to control but Buut postures up.

Mibangon avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Buut.
Buut controlling the position from side mount.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Mibangon tries for a takedown but Buut sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Despite the aggression on Buut's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Buut misses with a takedown attempt - Mibangon sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mibangon shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Buut sprawls well. Buut wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mibangon gets slowly back to his feet.
Walay Buut has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

And Buut responds with a good body kick, but Mibangon manages to step out the way in time.

Walay Buut comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Mibangon has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
