Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Karl Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Jonson!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jonson takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Jonson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jonson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
A nice elbow there by Jonson.

Jonson gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Jonson tries for a takedown but Jackson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Jackson forces Jonson back against the cage and clinches.
Jackson keeps control of Jonson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Jackson prevents Jonson from breaking the clinch.
Jonson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Jackson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jackson misses with a takedown

and Jonson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jackson's guard now.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jackson wants to stand but Jonson is controlling the position.

Jonson stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Jonson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Jackson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jackson.
Jonson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jackson is controlling him.
Jackson wants to control from the top but Jonson keeps moving.
Jackson stops Jonson from standing up.

Jackson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jackson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jonson manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Jackson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Jonson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jackson misses with a combination

so Jonson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Jonson wanted to stand there but Jackson had control of the position.
Jonson tries to free his leg and advance position but Jackson is retaining full guard.
Jackson pulls Jonson in close to prevent any damage.
Jackson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jackson pushes Jonson off and gets back to his feet.
Jonson avoids the head kick by Jackson.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Jonson dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Jackson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jonson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jonson's back!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jackson wants to control but Jonson is keeping him busy.

Jackson will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Jonson up against the cage.

Jackson drops back looking for a leg! Jonson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jonson manages to kick Jackson off! Jackson jumps back into Jonson's guard.

Jonson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jackson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Jackson throws a combination. Jonson tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Jonson wants to stand but Jackson has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Jonson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jackson is just riding it out for now. Jonson eventually gives up the hold.

Jackson is looking for a sweep. Jonson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jonson lands with a punch from half guard.
Jonson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jackson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Jackson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Well Jackson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
