PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Rivas (ranked 5449 p4p, 4931 weight class) and Eamon Saul (ranked 460 p4p, 433 weight class). Rivas kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Breathin. Ricky Rivas has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ricky Rivas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Eamon Saul!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saul fails in his attempt to clinch.

Saul throws an elbow that misses. Rivas uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Saul's guard. Nice move by Rivas!

Rivas won't allow Saul to sweep him here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Saul wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Rivas is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Rivas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Saul's guard.

Rivas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Saul swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Ricky Rivas will probably get the nod.

Rivas takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Saul lands a nice short elbow.
Saul seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Saul is nestled in close to Rivas, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Saul accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Eamon Saul showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Eamon Saul is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
