And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 7 losses; Filmore Everett! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Everett has Pancake up against the ropes in a clinch.
Everett gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Pancake (0) vs (2) Everett The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Pancake is pressing down on Everett's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Pancake looking to control.
Pancake looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Pancake might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Pancake looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pancake is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Everett defends well. Pancake working a defensive guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Everett preventing the sweep. Everett must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Pancake has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Everett can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Everett trying to move into half guard but instead Pancake has managed to sweep! Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Pancake (2) vs (2) Everett Everett working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pancake doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pancake manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Everett being controlled here, momentarily. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Everett really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pancake. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Pancake works a leg free and moves into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pancake wants to control but Everett is keeping him busy. Pancake tries to pass the half guard into mount. Everett knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Pancake perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Pancake passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Everett! Score +3 for passing guard: Pancake (5) vs (2) Everett Pancake can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Everett is looking to escape. Pancake controlling the position easily from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pancake working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Everett keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Pancake swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
