PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 24004 p4p, 23954 weight class) and Kulata Bitok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 48 - 5, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 49 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kulata Bitok!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Bitok displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Buktot.
And Bitok tries to counter it with a takedown but Buktot pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Bitok looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buktot preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Buktot is trying to maintain the position but Bitok is very close to passing his half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Bitok thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Buktot's head.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Still in half guard, Bitok seems content to control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Buktot dives in for a single leg takedown but Bitok sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Buktot is looking to control Bitok's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Buktot avoid being mounted?
Bitok looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Buktot is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bitok's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bitok's back!

Bitok rolls, trying to escape but Buktot keeps control of the position.
Bitok wants to control his opponent's hands but Buktot gets his hands free.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Buktot controlling the position well here. Bitok rolled but Buktot kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Buktot is working hard for the rear naked choke here.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Bitok has a takedown stuffed.
Buktot shoots in looking for a takedown. Bitok tries to sprawl out of it but Buktot keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bitok manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bitok looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Buktot!
Bitok has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Buktot tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The referee asks Bitok politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Bitok prefers to stall for the moment though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
You can see the frustration on Buktot's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Bitok content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Buktot looks for the body kick but Bitok saw that one coming.
Bitok is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.

Bitok gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Buktot to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Buktot is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Bitok thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Bitok holds on and takes a little breather.
Let's hope that Bitok has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kulata Bitok showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!

Buktot tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Bitok defends well and Buktot ends up having to push Bitok into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Bitok is staying active underneath Buktot, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

It appears Buktot was looking to counter with a kick there.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bitok goes for a double leg but Buktot avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Buktot continues to drive forward.
And Buktot counters with a quick kick to the body but Bitok blocks it.
Bitok shoots for a takedown but Buktot saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Dawindi Buktot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kulata Bitok.
No luck for Bitok with that takedown attempt.

Buktot jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

Bitok appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

Buktot fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bitok sprawls well initially but Buktot persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bitok is refusing to be controlled, as Buktot sits in half guard.
Buktot is thwarting Bitok's attempts to control the position.
Dawindi Buktot has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kulata Bitok is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Buktot is keen to just control but Bitok is a slippery customer.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bitok is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
