Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jardani Jovonovich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Faarooq Rahim!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Santiago Holmes and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jovonovich throws a jab when Rahim was well out of range.
Rahim looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Jovonovich bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Jovonovich definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Jovonovich swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Some bone on bone action there as Rahim checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Rahim has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jovonovich is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Jovonovich drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rahim gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Jovonovich decides to pull guard.
Jovonovich keeping moving, preventing Rahim from controlling successfully.
Rahim throwing strikes but missing.
Rahim really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jovonovich. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rahim is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Rahim wants to control from the top but Jovonovich keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rahim content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Jovonovich has locked up a guillotine! Jovonovich's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Rahim is holding on here and Jovonovich must be using up a lot of energy. Rahim has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Jovonovich gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jardani Jovonovich!
