Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mickey Carey (ranked 4445 p4p, 25393 weight class) and Akari Ayako (ranked 235 p4p, 426 weight class). Akari Ayako has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mickey Carey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akari Ayako! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ayako lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Ayako lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Carey moves into the clinch. Ayako tries to pull guard but Carey won't allow it.
Ayako pulls Carey into guard.
Ayako controlling Carey's posture. Ayako keeping full guard, as Carey tries to pass. Carey looking to control the position here, rather than advance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carey trying to control the position from guard on top but Ayako is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ayako looking for a sweep. Not yet Ayako, not yet. Carey sitting in guard, not really doing much. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Ayako throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Carey misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Carey tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ayako swivels and escapes. Carey misses with a takedown attempt - Ayako sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mickey Carey. That's going to take a lot out of him. Carey closes the distance and pushes Ayako back into the cage. Ayako has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Carey avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Carey working hard to break the clinch. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Carey. Carey wants a takedown but no success here.
Carey pulls Ayako into guard.
Carey is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Carey is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carey has control of Ayako's left arm, preventing Ayako from doing any damage. Carey tries to land a sweep but no joy. Carey trying to keep a closed guard but Ayako is proving a slippery customer.
Carey will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Carey is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Ayako frees his head nicely. Oh but Carey has switched to an armbar! Ayako is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
