PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Long (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Robertson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that William Robertson was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Long!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, William Robertson!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Robertson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Long sprawls well initially but Robertson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Long wants to improve his position but Robertson is controlling well.
Robertson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
I looks like Robertson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Robertson is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Long reverses the position - he's now on top in Robertson's guard.
Long wants to control from the top but Robertson keeps moving.

Long is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Robertson pulls Long in close to his closed guard and prevents Long from doing any damage or advancing position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Robertson tries to roll over but Long keeps him under control.

Long is pressed up against the cage. Robertson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Long down to the mat. Long avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Robertson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Robertson in particular looking to stall.
Let's hope that Robertson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

I think Robertson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
