Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gary Gardner (ranked 4130 p4p, 4132 weight class) and Rewa Tate (ranked 212 p4p, 214 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gary Gardner! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rewa Tate! The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Francis DeMontford and Ben Hemmingworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gardner misses with a head kick.
No luck for Gardner with that takedown attempt. A head kick misses from Gardner. Tate clinches with his opponent.
Gardner looking for a takedown. Tate is defending well against a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gary Gardner. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gardner misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Tate.
Tate tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Tate is defending well against a takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tate stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Tate creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Gardner's defenses.
It looks like Gary Gardner has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tate is trying to trip Gardner. He has hold of a leg but Gardner is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Tate persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Gardner wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Tate manages to pass to side control. Tate keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Gardner tries to get to full guard but Tate has control of the leg. Tate looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Tate really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gardner. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Tate is just content to waste time from the top position. Gardner takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gardner controlling the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tate looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gardner looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tate is one step ahead there. Tate wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Gardner's closed guard. He's half up but Gardner has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Gardner pivots and extends the arm, Tate falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Gardner! Well done that man!
