Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chaz Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joao Mendigo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves comes to the cage accompanied by Attack by 30 Seconds to Mars. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chaz Alves! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joao Mendigo! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendigo blocks a head kick by Alves.
Alves tries to close the distance and clinch but Mendigo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Alves tries to bum rush Mendigo with a series of wild strikes but Mendigo uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Horrible takedown by Mendigo or perhaps it was just good defense by Alves which made him look bad. A combination from Alves does no damage. Mendigo tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Alves swivels and escapes. Mendigo misses with a low kick as Alves jumps back. Mendigo tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Alves counters by moving into the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mendigo is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Mendigo drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Alves gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Chaz Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joao Mendigo. Mendigo is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Knees in the clinch landing for Alves.
Alves's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
That's one minute gone in the round. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mendigo. Mendigo shoots in for a double leg but Alves sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Mendigo with a poor takedown and Alves counters with a two punch combo. Alves tries to clinch but Mendigo moves away and Mendigo counters with a nice double leg into guard. Mendigo looks gassed! Mendigo trying to control but Alves is working from the bottom. Alves knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mendigo on the ground. Mendigo controls from within his opponent's guard. Alves keeping moving, preventing Mendigo from controlling successfully. Mendigo stands and throws Alves's legs to the side, diving into side control. Alves is pushing Mendigo's head away, looking to escape. Mendigo manages to hold on to the position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendigo has hold of Alves's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Alves seems comfortable defending it but Mendigo has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Alves is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Alves is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Mendigo couldn't care less - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Joao Mendigo!
