And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 62 wins and 56 losses; Shane MacGowan!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Andrew Berry and Phil Schofield.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
McDonald closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. MacGowan quickly recovers to half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: McDonald (2) vs (0) MacGowan

McDonald uses his free foot to push down on MacGowan's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for MacGowan. Score +3 for passing guard: McDonald (5) vs (0) MacGowan
MacGowan has left one of his arms exposed and McDonald doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. MacGowan screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

A determined David McDonald didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it! |
