And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 13 wins and 10 losses; Roman Kersikov! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Phil Schofield and William Gold.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Kersikov displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Nelson. Kersikov dives in and grabs Nelson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nelson pushes down on Kersikov's head and hops out. Kersikov tries for a takedown but Nelson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Nelson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. And that's the end of the fight! As we have tied on points, we go to a tie breaker and Nelson gets a bonus point for attempting more subs. Nelson takes the fight on points by 12 to 11. A relieved looking Stoned Nelson thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. |
