PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Xxx Xxx (ranked 5843 p4p, 23134 weight class) and Xxx Xxx (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Xxx Xxx has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 105 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xxx Xxx!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 98 - 26 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xxx Xxx!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Fighter A shoots in for a double leg but Fighter B sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Fighter B is trying to counter with his kicks.
Fighter A shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
And Fighter B responds with a good body kick, but Fighter A manages to step out the way in time.

Fighter B drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fighter B is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Fighter A is pulling down on Fighter B's head. It's preventing any offense from Fighter B, at least for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fighter A is trying to control the position but Fighter B postures up.
Fighter A lands a decent punch to the body there.
Fighter A looking to control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Fighter B is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Fighter A shoots in for a takedown but Fighter B shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Xxx Xxx. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fighter A fails with a takedown attempt.
Fighter B throws a fast counter high kick but Fighter A manages to duck under it in time.

Fighter A feints and as Fighter B raises his hands in defense, Fighter A changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fighter A in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter B utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Fighter A lands a couple of elbows.
Fighter B pulls Fighter A in close to prevent any damage.
Fighter A scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Fighter B is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Fighter A trying to control but Fighter B is working from the bottom.
Fighter A connects with a couple of short punches.
Fighter A stands up over Fighter B, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fighter B is pulling down on Fighter A's head. It's preventing any offense from Fighter A, at least for the moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Xxx Xxx dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Fighter A fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Fighter B counters with a body kick.
Fighter B throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Fighter A looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.

Fighter B drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fighter B content to stall in guard here.
Fighter B is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fighter B seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Fighter A trying to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Fighter B dives in and grabs Fighter A's left leg, looking for a takedown. Fighter A pushes down on Fighter B's head and hops out.
Fighter A jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Fighter A has a takedown stuffed.
Fighter B is trying to counter with his kicks.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter A shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Xxx Xxx. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fighter A fails with a takedown attempt.
Fighter B counters with a body kick.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Fighter B stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Fighter B wants it to stay on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Fighter A looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Fighter B steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Fighter A goes for a double leg but Fighter B avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Fighter B continues to drive forward.

Fighter B has hold of one of Fighter A's legs. Fighter A is fighting the takedown attempt but Fighter B gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Fighter B is looking to stand up but Fighter A won't let him.
Fighter A can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Fighter B controls the pace.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Xxx Xxx showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Fighter A darts in looking for a takedown but Fighter B gets double underhooks and turns Fighter A into the cage.
Fighter B steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.

Fighter B is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Fighter A can't fight it off and eventually Fighter B manages to take the fight to the floor. Fighter A looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Xxx Xxx has got the better of the ground game so far.

Fighter B is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Fighter B has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Fighter A working a defensive guard here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Fighter B sitting in guard here, content to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Fighter A shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Fighter B as he avoids it easily.
Fighter B thinks about the counter body kick.

Fighter B gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Fighter A to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Fighter A throws a strike but Fighter B rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter B is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Fighter A is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Fighter A is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Fighter B is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Fighter A tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Fighter A keeping full guard, as Fighter B tries to pass.
Fighter B is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Fighter B is fighting to break Fighter A's control of his arms but Fighter A is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

And that's the end of the fight!
Xxx Xxx comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Fighter B has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
