Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yao Ming (ranked 4016 p4p, 4163 weight class) and Blake West (ranked 428 p4p, 424 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yao Ming!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Blake West!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, John Mangel and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

West shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Ming tries to kick West off in order to stand up. West Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Ming tries to escape but West is in control.

West decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ming to his feet.

West closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - West lands in his opponent's guard.
West showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Ming wants to get back to his feet but West is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
West advances to half guard.
Ming wants to stand back up but West manages to pass into side control.
Ming being controlled for a moment.

West stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Blake West seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A head kick misses from West.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ming connects with a looping right hand.
West throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
West fails to land with a series of punches.

West rushes Ming and presses him up against the cage.

West's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ming throws a sloppy head kick and West moves out of range easily.
West drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Ming defends it well.
West is looking to clinch but Ming is avoiding it.
West moves to clinch but Ming breaks away
and Ming counters with a nice body shot.
Ming tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but West was well out of range. Poor timing from Ming.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

West gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Ming doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
West prevents a body shot from Ming.
West taking a breather.

West's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
West shoots in but no luck this time.
West shoots in and drives through. Ming sprawls well.
Ming really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

West closes the distance and clinches.
A head punch on the inside from Ming fails to land.

West breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ming tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but West was well out of range. Poor timing from Ming.

West clinches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

West pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ming misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from West.
West misses with the combination.
Ming swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
West moves in looking to clinch but Ming pushes him off.
Ming throws a right and a left that both miss.
West is looking to clinch but Ming is avoiding it.
Ming stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from West.
Ming stuffs the takedown attempt from West. West gets slowly back to his feet.
Ming appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Blake West dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

West closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ming circles away.
West walks into a left hand.

West darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Ming is trying to escape back to his feet but West uses the scramble to pass into side control.
West has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
West controls the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ming is looking to work his way out of this bad position but West is controlling him well.
Check out the look on West's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Ming is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

That's one minute gone in the round.
West landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.

Ming is wriggling around trying to escape but West has hooked up a rear naked choke! Is it over??? Is it... you're damn right it is! Ming taps out and West picks up the big win! Great work there by West!
