This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 61 wins and 27 losses; Nick Rodriquez! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 40 wins and 44 losses; Anthony Lavicci! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Glass and Daniel Bishop.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lavicci is defended easily by Rodriquez. Lavicci gets the takedown into side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Rodriquez (0) vs (4) Lavicci Lavicci goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Rodriquez has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Lavicci but great work by Rodriquez. Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Rodriquez (4) vs (4) Lavicci Lavicci seems a little lost for a moment, as Rodriquez dominates the positioning. Lavicci is looking to regain half guard here but Rodriquez keeps moving and retains side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lavicci prevents Rodriquez from moving into mount.

You can see the frustration on Lavicci's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

We've been hearing good reports from Rodriquez's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Rodriquez pulls Lavicci in close to his closed guard and prevents Lavicci from doing any damage or advancing position. Rodriquez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lavicci swivels though and keeps the full guard. Lavicci can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rodriquez controls the pace.

Score +2 for reaching mount: Rodriquez (14) vs (6) Lavicci Lavicci is looking to get to half guard. Rodriquez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Rodriquez seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lavicci for as long as he can get away with. Rodriquez can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lavicci is looking to escape. Lavicci keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Rodriquez content just to control the position here.
