Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Romulus Gerber (ranked 915 p4p, 1899 weight class) and Cuervo Oquendo (ranked 122 p4p, 226 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cuervo Oquendo!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Hugh Johnson and Topper Green.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gerber lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Oquendo cracks Gerber with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Oquendo takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Gerber has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Animal Fight Club in the buildup to the fight.
Gerber throws an off balance right hand
and Oquendo counters with a nice uppercut.
Gerber loads up on a big right hand but Oquendo slips the punch.
Gerber throws a low kick, looking for Oquendo's leg but Oquendo calmly moves out of range.
Gerber misses the jab.
Oquendo on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Gerber gets a double leg takedown into Oquendo's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gerber throws a strike but Oquendo rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Gerber is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Oquendo is aware though and is defending well.
Oquendo wanted to stand there but Gerber had control of the position.

Gerber is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Gerber escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Oquendo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Oquendo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Gerber had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Oquendo defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Oquendo postures up.
Oquendo wants to get up but he can't break Gerber's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Gerber is working an open guard so Oquendo takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Gerber moves forwards but Oquendo connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Gerber misses with a low kick.
It seemed like Oquendo was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Oquendo on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Gerber lands a jab to Oquendo's midsection.
Gerber takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Gerber fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Gerber moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Gerber's corner calls for a 1-2. Gerber obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Romulus Gerber seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Oquendo takes one to the chin there.

Gerber throws a leg kick
and Oquendo counters with a straight right hand.
Oquendo throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Oquendo throws a hook but Gerber blocks it.
Oquendo throws an off balance right hand
and Gerber counters with a stiff right hand.
Oquendo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Oquendo misses with a body kick.
A shot to the body from Gerber misses
and Oquendo counters with a right hand to the body.
Oquendo lands a head shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gerber throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Oquendo counters with a stiff right hand.
Oquendo connects with a stiff jab that staggers Gerber - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!

Cuervo Oquendo tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
