PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kulata Bitok (ranked 23857 p4p, 23889 weight class) and Tapad Amiga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 50 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kulata Bitok!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 56 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tapad Amiga!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Bitok misses with an attempted mid kick.
Amiga shoots for a double leg takedown but Bitok sprawls well. He's pushed Amiga's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Bitok stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bitok wants it to stay on the feet.
Bitok closes the distance and clinches up with Amiga, looking for a takedown. Bitok pushes Amiga against the cage but Amiga circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga misses with a takedown attempt - Bitok sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kulata Bitok has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tapad Amiga.

Amiga drives through with a takedown into Bitok's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bitok pulls Amiga in close to his closed guard and prevents Amiga from doing any damage or advancing position.
Amiga looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

It looks like Amiga might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Bitok has Amiga pulled in close to control his posture.
Bitok striking off his back but it's not causing Amiga any problems.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bitok is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Bitok fails with a takedown attempt.

Bitok gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Amiga is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Tapad Amiga dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Bitok shoots for a takedown but Amiga saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Amiga replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Bitok blocks it well.
Bitok shoots in looking for a takedown but Amiga manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bitok's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Amiga shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bitok as he jumps to the side.
Bitok drops down looking for a counter takedown but Amiga sprawls and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bitok tries to score a power double leg takedown but Amiga sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bitok somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kulata Bitok. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Amiga goes for a double leg but Bitok avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bitok continues to drive forward.
Bitok shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
And Amiga responds with a good body kick, but Bitok manages to step out the way in time.
Amiga stuffs the takedown.

Amiga closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Bitok's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bitok being controlled here, momentarily.
Bitok is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Amiga controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Amiga has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Bitok is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Amiga fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Bitok jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Amiga shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bitok but Bitok pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Tapad Amiga showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Bitok is nestled in close to Amiga, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Bitok not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Bitok seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Amiga tries to roll over but Bitok keeps him under control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Amiga is holding on to half guard well.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Bitok goes for a double leg but Amiga avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Amiga continues to drive forward.

Amiga escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Amiga looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bitok is fending him off so far but Amiga persists. Nope, Bitok circles away and we're back to standing.
Bitok shoots in but Amiga avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Amiga is trying to counter with his kicks.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bitok defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Amiga.
Kulata Bitok has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tapad Amiga.

It looked like Bitok was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Bitok changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Amiga tries to avoid it but Bitok manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Amiga to the ground. Amiga escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Amiga unleashes a big counter combination but Bitok bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Bitok throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Amiga tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bitok is in Amiga's guard.
Kulata Bitok has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tapad Amiga is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Bitok wants to pass the guard but Amiga is keeping the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kulata Bitok showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Amiga has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
