Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 23907 p4p, 23865 weight class) and Walay Buut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 49 - 5, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 46 - 38 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walay Buut!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Buktot stuffs the takedown.
Buktot swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Buktot fails with the takedown
and Buut counters with a one-two to the body.

Buut changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Buktot looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Buktot manages to get back to half guard.
Still in half guard, Buut seems content to control.

Buut wants to stand but Buktot has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Let's hope that Buut has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Buut fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Buktot leaves Buut with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Buktot appears to be looking for a big counter.
Dawindi Buktot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walay Buut.
Buktot shoots in for a double leg but Buut sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Buut stuffs the takedown.
And Buut responds with a good body kick, but Buktot manages to step out the way in time.
Buut thows a body kick. Buktot tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Buktot shoots in looking for a takedown. Buut tries to sprawl out of it but Buktot keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Buut manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Buut content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Buut is looking to take a break and control but Buktot is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

As Buut looks to move away, Buktot throws a big counter combo but Buut just gets out of the way.
Buut has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Buktot throws a quick counter kick to the body but Buut avoids it.
Buktot shoots in for a double leg but Buut sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Buut holds on to Buktot's head and controls the position momentarily.
Walay Buut has got the better of the ground game so far.

You can see the frustration on Buut's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Buut manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Buut is controlling the pace.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Buktot tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Buktot manages to get to full guard.
Buut controls from within his opponent's guard.
Buut postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Buktot pulls Buut in close to prevent any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Buut feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Walay Buut will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Nice takedown defense from Buut. No joy for Buktot on that attempt.

Buut is trying to maintain the position but Buktot is very close to passing his half guard.

Buut throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Buktot manages to pass to side control.
Buut wants to control but Buktot postures up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Buut is trying to get back to half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Buut is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Buut misses with a takedown
and Buktot counters with a nice low kick that buckles Buut's knee momentarily.

Buut defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Buktot.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dawindi Buktot. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Buut gets the takedown into side control.
Buut is staying tight to Buktot's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Buktot is not content to let Buut control the position.

Buut staying calm.
Dawindi Buktot has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Buktot is trying to control Buut's posture but Buut avoids it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dawindi Buktot showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Buut has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
