Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ben Gille! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Richard Santos! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santos throws a head kick that misses. Gille looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Santos bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Santos takes a little break here. Gille wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Santos is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gille knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Santos working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Gille really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Gille misses with a few strikes there.
Santos has closed the distance and engaged Gille in a clinch.
Santos pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Santos feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Santos wants to control from the top but Gille keeps moving. Santos is pushing down on Gille's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gille is fighting to maintain full guard but Santos has managed to sneak the leg through.

Richard Santos dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Santos tries to bum rush Gille with a series of wild strikes but Gille uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Santos swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Gille slips a jab and a cross from Santos.
Santos gets a takedown into half guard. Santos wants to take a breather but Gille is having none of it. Santos controlling the action here. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Santos not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santos lands strikes from half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Santos slows the pace down in half guard. Santos has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Santos is looking for a kimura but Gille is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Santos to get the leverage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Gille keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Santos is working for a kimura but Gille is defending it quite comfortably.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Santos decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Santos seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Santos perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Santos's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Santos passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Gille! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Richard Santos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Santos feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Gille's calf. Santos pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Santos fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Santos moves into the clinch. Santos is working for takedown but Gille is calmly controlling the position for now. Santos has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Gille clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Santos misses with a punch to the head. Santos misses with a punch to the head. Richard Santos has got the better of the ground game so far. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. A bit of a pause in the action here. Santos controlling the positon. Santos softening up his opponent with strikes here.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Santos has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Gille! Can he survive? No! He's out! Santos gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
