And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Angel Hernandez!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jorge Garcia and Steve Montenegro.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hernandez throws a half hearted mid kick.
Simons throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Hernandez tries to score with a low kick but Simons moves his leg out of the way.
Hernandez looks to throw a body kick
enabling Simons to counter with a crisp jab.
Hernandez keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Simons.
Hernandez lands with a kick to the temple. Simons shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

and Simons counters with a nice right hand that sends Hernandez toppling to the canvas! Hernandez scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Simons finish him?!

Hernandez is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Simons swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hernandez is still on wobbly legs! Can Simons finish him?
Simons misses the jab.
Simons misses with an uppercut.
Hernandez appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Hernandez seems to have recovered his senses.
Simons throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Simons throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Hernandez counters with a straight right hand.
Simons throws the left hand but Hernandez avoids the punch easily.
Hernandez looks for the body kick but Simons saw that one coming.
Simons moves out of range of the body kick from Hernandez.
Hernandez wants to slow Simons down by chopping away at his legs.
Simons swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hernandez throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Simons lands a left and a right that send Hernandez crashing to the mat, dazed. Simons thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Simons is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Hernandez throws a solid leg kick but Simons takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Hernandez.
Hernandez get stunned by a cross and takes another one on the button. Hernandez stumbles backwards and tries to bounce back off the cage but Simons runs in and jumps on him with a leaping lead hook that puts him out! Wow, that was highlight reel stuff! Awesome finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Russ Simons!
After winning the bout, Russ Simons thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
