PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lyzekel Rage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kross Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Lyzekel Rage has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Lyzekel Rage seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Lyzekel Rage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kross Burns!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burns throws out a loose jab but Rage uses good head movement to avoid it.
Rage avoids a punch combination nicely.
No joy there for Burns, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Burns misses with a few strikes there.
Burns misses with a takedown attempt - Rage sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Burns has managed to clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rage tries to land a knee to the head but Burns blocks with his arms.
Rage looking to slow down the pace here.
Rage looking to throw knees to the head but Burns is blocking nicely.
Burns blocks an elbow strike.
Burns wants a takedown.
Rage misses with a knee to the head.
Rage lands a nice elbow.
Burns jumps guard but Rage stands there with Burns around his waist. Burns gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Lyzekel Rage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kross Burns.
Rage is pressed up against the cage. Burns has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rage down to the mat. Rage avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Burns changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rage tries to avoid it but Burns manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rage to the ground. Rage escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Burns looks gassed!
Burns keeps the fight on the outside.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rage tries to clinch but Burns moves away
and Burns counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Rage fails in his attempt to clinch.
Lyzekel Rage is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Burns misses with the combination.
Kross Burns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rage closes the distance and clinches.
Rage content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Rage trying to land knees to the body.
Burns has Rage pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rage manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rage lands a nice elbow.

Burns is trying to trip Rage. He has hold of a leg but Rage is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Burns persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Burns stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rage swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Burns controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kross Burns dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Burns shoots in and drives through. Rage sprawls well.
Rage tries to clinch up

and Burns decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rage's guard.

Burns is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Burns trying to control but Rage is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Burns passes Rage's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Burns is controlling the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kross Burns showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Rage's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Burns looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

A battle for position here, against the cage.

Burns tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rage smiles and moves away.
Rage tries to clinch up
and Burns counters with a nice body shot.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Burns tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Rage counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Rage avoids a punch combination nicely.
Rage staying out of range there.
Burns scores with the left hand. Rage knows he should have avoided that one.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Burns has managed to clinch.
Burns tries for a takedown but Rage manages to get underhooks.
Rage looking to throw knees to the head but Burns is blocking nicely.
Burns stalling.

Burns works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Burns controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lyzekel Rage has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kross Burns comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Burns winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
