PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Stony Marciano (ranked 3803 p4p, 1517 weight class) and Jamal Hudak (ranked 401 p4p, 85 weight class). Marciano comes to the cage accompanied by IQ 98. Stony Marciano has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stony Marciano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jamal Hudak!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hudak is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Marciano takes a swing at Hudak's ribcage but misses.
Hudak throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Marciano lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Marciano uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hudak.

Hudak closes the distance and pushes Marciano back into the cage.
Hudak tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Marciano smiles and moves away.
Marciano throws a lazy right hand but Hudak sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Hudak clinches up with Marciano and pushes him back against the cage.

Hudak breaks from the clinch.

Hudak shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Marciano napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hudak goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Marciano has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hudak but great work by Marciano.

Hudak can't do much from the bottom here.
Marciano knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hudak on the ground.
Hudak sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Hudak manages to get to full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Marciano got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hudak has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Marciano has managed to get both his arms back between Hudak's legs - danger averted.

Hudak looking for subs off his back but Marciano has passed one foot through into half guard.
Hudak has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Marciano is working away from the top position though.
Marciano seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hudak does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hudak is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hudak is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Marciano looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hudak is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hudak gets back to full guard.
Marciano throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Hudak looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Marciano passes into side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Marciano wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hudak keeps working.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Stony Marciano will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Hudak darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Marciano is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Hudak throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A looping hook to the body misses from Marciano. Hudak does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hudak tries to counter with a clinch but Marciano shakes him off and moves away.
Hudak takes a swing at Marciano's ribcage but misses.

Stony Marciano is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Hudak forces Marciano back against the cage and clinches.
Hudak drops down looking for an ankle pick but Marciano pulls his leg out and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hudak shoots in for a takedown but Marciano shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Marciano swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Marciano sets himself, and Hudak steps forward looking for the clinch! Marciano avoids it this time.
Marciano ducks under a wild hook from Hudak.
Marciano went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Marciano tries to keep at a distance but Hudak has taken the fight into the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hudak tries to score a body lock takedown but Marciano shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Stony Marciano has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jamal Hudak.

Hudak has clasped his hands together around Marciano's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Hudak wants to control but Marciano is keeping him busy.

Hudak wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Marciano, who protects the arm well.

Marciano manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Hudak is looking to control Marciano's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hudak avoid being mounted?
Hudak is looking for a sweep. Marciano is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Hudak has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Marciano. Oh but Hudak has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Marciano goes limp - he's gone! Hudak jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jamal Hudak!
After the fight, Jamal Hudak was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
