The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Okoye forces Takashi back against the ropes and clinches. Okoye has hold of one of Takashi's legs. Takashi is fighting the takedown attempt but Okoye gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Okoye is fighting to break Takashi's control of his arms but Takashi is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Okoye will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Okoye won't allow Takashi to sweep him here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Okoye wants to control from the top but Takashi keeps moving. Okoye not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Takashi is controlling an arm, preventing Okoye from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Okoye can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Takashi is looking to escape.

Takashi has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Okoye is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Takashi is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Okoye stalling away here and it's allowed Takashi to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Okoye stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Takashi swivels though and keeps the full guard. Okoye preventing the sweep. Okoye trying to control but Takashi is working from the bottom.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Takashi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Takashi working a defensive guard here.

God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Takashi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
