Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zdeno Chara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Beam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zdeno Chara! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jim Beam! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Beam throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Chara's waist but Chara gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Beam off to one side. Chara throws a head kick that Beam semi-blocks.
Beam shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Beam was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Beam lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Beam trying to control but Chara is having none of it. Chara is trying to stand up. Beam landing strikes from the mount and Chara is in trouble! Chara sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Chara gets full guard. Chara not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Chara is looking to stand up but Beam isn't so interested in that idea. Beam postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Chara is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Chara is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chara is trying to work for a kimura but Beam is defending well.
Beam moves into full guard.
Chara thows a big elbow that misses. Beam is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Chara trying to control the position from guard on top but Beam is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Chara drops back looking for a leg! Beam is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Beam manages to kick Chara off! Chara jumps back into Beam's guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Chara decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Chara moves out of range of the leg kick from Beam. Beam will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Beam looks gassed! Beam misses with a series of wild punches.
Chara throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Beam shoots in for a double leg but Chara sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Chara closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Chara lands in his opponent's guard. Beam trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Chara slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Chara won't allow Beam to sweep him here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chara gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. The fight moves into the clinch position. Chara breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Chara fails in his attempt to clinch. Chara gets a clinch. Chara scores with a shoulder strike. Chara tries to score a body lock takedown but Beam shows good agility there to stay on his feet. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Beam is trying to break the clinch but Chara has him pressed against the ropes. Chara lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Chara breaks from the clinch.
Beam takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Chara chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Chara instigates a clinch. Chara tries to score a body lock takedown but Beam shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Chara breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Chara fails with an attempt to clinch.
Beam closes the distance and clinches up with Chara, looking for a takedown. Beam pushes Chara against the ropes but Chara circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Zdeno Chara has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jim Beam.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chara closes the distance and clinches. Chara changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Beam fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Chara closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Beam to the mat! Beam manages to get full guard. Chara drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Chara jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Chara passes into half guard. Beam wants to get back to full guard. Chara wants to free his trapped foot but Beam is holding on for dear life with his legs. Chara wants to control but Beam is keeping him busy. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Chara is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Beam sees it coming and defends easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Zdeno Chara dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Chara slips a jab and a cross from Beam.
Beam throws a right and a left that both miss. Jim Beam seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Beam thows a body shot but no joy. Jim Beam is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Chara drives through and clinches with Beam against the ropes.
Chara comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Chara fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Chara gets control of Beam's arms and successfully pulls guard. Chara will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Chara manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Beam manages to get himself to full guard.
Chara is looking to stand up but Beam won't let him. Chara pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Beam is keeping the position for now. Beam wants to sweep but no luck. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Chara trying to control the position from guard on top but Beam is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Chara is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Beam is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Beam doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Chara shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Chara drops back looking for a leg! Beam is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Beam manages to kick Chara off! Chara jumps back into Beam's guard. Chara forces his way into half guard. Chara keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Chara is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Beam defends it well. Chara blocks the strikes from Beam.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chara prevents Beam from improving his position. Chara is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Beam tries to get to full guard but Chara has control of the leg. Beam is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Chara wants to control but Beam is keeping him busy.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Chara feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Beam keeping moving, preventing Chara from controlling successfully. Beam throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Beam looking to hit a scissor sweep but Chara is one step ahead there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Beam throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Chara is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Beam trying to strike off his back.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Chara trying to control the position from guard on top but Beam is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Chara clinches. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Chara here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Chara stalling in the clinch but Beam improves position. Chara breaks the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Beam shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Chara bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Beam tries to strike but it doesn't land. Zdeno Chara overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Beam is looking for a sweep. Chara wants to control but Beam is keeping him busy. Chara working the ground and pound. Chara working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Chara in the domination position with Beam hanging on. Beam is not content to let Chara control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Zdeno Chara dominated that second round. That's time! Chara's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Chara darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Chara is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Chara is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Beam sees it coming and defends easily. Beam is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Beam flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Chara wants to lay and pray for a moment but Beam keeps working. Beam punching from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Chara prevents Beam from improving his position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Beam fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chara gets a clinch. Beam takes an elbow to the temple. Chara has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Beam is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Chara jumps guard and drags Beam to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Beam thows a big elbow that misses. Chara looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Chara working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Beam. Chara working for a triangle but Beam defends it easily.
Beam postures up in Chara's guard and throws a big left but Chara blocks it. Beam wants to control from the top but Chara keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chara lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Beam! Chara prevents Beam from getting the reversal. Chara blocks Beam's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Chara has hold of Beam's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Beam manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Chara landing strikes from the mount and Beam is in trouble! Chara wants to control the pace but Beam is squirming around nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chara working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Beam looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Chara! Submission of the night perhaps?
