And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Arctium Zofewa! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Percy O'Donnell.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Zofewa instigates a clinch. Zofewa has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Vellitis is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Zofewa is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Vellitis gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Zofewa has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Vellitis after a bit of a struggle. Marcus Vellitis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arctium Zofewa. Zofewa changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Vellitis fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Zofewa might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Vellitis haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Zofewa looking for a guillotine here but Vellitis defends easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Vellitis controlling the action here. Vellitis seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Zofewa for as long as he can get away with. Zofewa is looking to improve his position.
Vellitis is looking for a kimura but Zofewa is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Vellitis to get the leverage. Zofewa is controlling Vellitis's trapped leg to prevent Vellitis from advancing to side control. Vellitis sitting and controlling from the half guard.

Zofewa remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Vellitis will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Zofewa is trying to defend against the choke here but Vellitis has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Vellitis Tightens the hold and Zofewa taps out furiously! Vellitis displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
