Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Emberson Cabral! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jesse Kim! The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Steve Erwin and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cabral lands with a cross. Oh, that's a big right hand from Cabral and Kim goes tumbling to the canvas! Cabral follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.
Kim is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kim actively working from the bottom here. Cabral knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kim on the ground. Kim looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Kim looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Cabral throwing shots but Kim is blocking nicely. Cabral controlling the action here. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Kim has eaten all the pies! Cabral has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Cabral thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kim's head. Kim actively working from the bottom here. Cabral wants to stand up but Kim has a hold of him and won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kim looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Cabral looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Cabral throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Kim looking for a kimura from the bottom but Cabral passes into side control! Cabral throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Cabral in side control, throwing shots but Kim defends. Kim is looking for a sweep. Kim is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Cabral's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Cabral postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Kim to stand up. Cabral throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Kim tumbling to the canvas! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cabral stands up from guard. Let's bang! Kim looks for a takedown but Cabral sprawls well. An attempted straight right counter from Cabral misses the target.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kim is defended easily by Cabral. Kim looks winded! Cabral finds Kim's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Kim flops back against the ropes, eyes gazing into the distance. Cabral lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Kim will be OK.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Emberson Cabral!
