PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Benton (ranked 5044 p4p, 3144 weight class) and Kemp Dennis (ranked 522 p4p, 377 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Brandon Benton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Kemp Dennis!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Daniel Bishop and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dennis has his takedown stuffed
and Benton counters with a nice uppercut.
Dennis slips a jab and a cross from Benton.
Benton connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Dennis momentarily.

and Benton counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Benton jabs Dennis to the body, keeping him at a distance.
No joy there for Benton, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Benton connects with a crisp jab.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Dennis.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
You can see the frustration on Benton's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Benton tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Dennis wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Benton takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Dennis working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

Benton knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dennis on the ground.
The ground and pound from Dennis seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

The strikes coming from Dennis are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Dennis has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Dennis is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Benton is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
You can see the frustration on Benton's face as Dennis controls the position.
Benton takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Dennis lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Dennis remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Dennis is nestled in close to Benton, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kemp Dennis dominated that round.
That's time! Benton's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Benton gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dennis softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Benton is out cold! Dennis jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!
