Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Phichael Melps!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adriel Rojas!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melps shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Melps showed some decent athleticism there.
Rojas wants to get back to his feet.
Melps working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
We've been hearing that Melps has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Melps seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Melps working the head and body with strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Melps trying to control the action but Rojas is working from the bottom.
Melps is working for a kimura but Rojas is defending it quite comfortably.
Melps tries to pass the half guard into mount. Rojas knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rojas taking some punishment here, with Melps in his half guard.
Rojas looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Rojas has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Melps is working away from the top position though.
Melps maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Rojas could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Melps has cracked it and Rojas is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Melps!
