Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bernardo Belmiro (ranked 2573 p4p, 1914 weight class) and Sabas Mendiola (ranked 290 p4p, 234 weight class). Sabas Mendiola has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bernardo Belmiro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sabas Mendiola! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Illya Tyunina and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Belmiro avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Belmiro lands a nice looking body shot.
Jab from Mendiola. Belmiro moves out of range of the strikes. Belmiro is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Belmiro shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mendiola but Mendiola pushes him off and we're back to square one. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Belmiro uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mendiola.
Belmiro looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Belmiro misses with a takedown and Mendiola counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
That's one minute gone in the round. Belmiro tries to clinch but Mendiola is having none of it. Mendiola on the wrong end of a nice jab. No luck for Belmiro with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bernardo Belmiro. That's going to take a lot out of him. Belmiro avoids the body shot from Mendiola.

Mendiola misses with a hook from the clinch. Mendiola stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Mendiola fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Belmiro is working for takedown but Mendiola is calmly controlling the position for now. Belmiro has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mendiola uses from the top position. Mendiola's corner is telling him to maintain position. Belmiro throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Mendiola sitting in guard here, content to control. Belmiro will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Belmiro lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Belmiro trying to control but Mendiola is working from the bottom. Belmiro wants to pass the guard but Mendiola is keeping the position. Belmiro showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Belmiro stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mendiola swivels though and keeps the full guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Sabas Mendiola dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Belmiro tries for a takedown but Mendiola circles away easily and Mendiola counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Belmiro throws a right hand that misses
and Mendiola counters with a stiff right hand.
It looks like Bernardo Belmiro has been cut. Belmiro looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Belmiro is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Mendiola drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Belmiro defends it well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mendiola throws a right hand that misses

Mendiola tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Mendiola pushes Belmiro back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Mendiola stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Mendiola misses with the head strike.

Mendiola lands a nice uppercut. Belmiro jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mendiola walks away with a smile on his face. Belmiro gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bernardo Belmiro. That's going to take a lot out of him. Belmiro misses the body punch and Belmiro takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Belmiro doesn't succeed with the takedown and Mendiola counters with a crisp right hand that drops Belmiro! Mendiola lets Belmiro back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Belmiro is rocked! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mendiola lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Belmiro at a distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendiola dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Mendiola cracks Belmiro with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Belmiro falls to his knees and Mendiola doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sabas Mendiola!
