Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Warrick Cager (ranked 3323 p4p, 4921 weight class) and Deveon Zelda (ranked 348 p4p, 454 weight class). Zelda has chosen Immortal Technique - The Point of No Return as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Warrick Cager! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Deveon Zelda! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Michael Johnstone and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cager misses with a takedown attempt - Zelda sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Zelda stuffs the takedown. Cager feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Cager content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Cager has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Cager lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Cager throws an elbow that misses. Zelda uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cager's guard. Nice move by Zelda! Cager wants to sweep but no luck. Zelda looking to sit in guard and control but Cager gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Cager postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Cager pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Zelda is keeping the position for now. Zelda is trying to control the position but Cager postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cager is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Zelda controls Cager momentarily but Cager frees himself. Zelda utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Cager throwing strikes but missing. Cager scoring with punches to the head and body. Zelda really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cager. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Cager controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Cager is looking to work some ground and pound but Zelda has wrist control. Cager works over Zelda with some ground and pound from guard. Cager throwing strikes from guard but Zelda blocks nicely. Cager postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Cager has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Cager cracks Zelda with a solid left hand. Cager postures up in Zelda's guard and throws a big left but Zelda blocks it. Cager scoring with punches to the head and body. Cager with a nice head shot there. Cager looking to sit in guard and control but Zelda gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cager is pulling down on Zelda's head to control his posture. Zelda trying to control but Cager is working from the bottom. Cager is adopting a defensive guard. Cager tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Zelda trying to control the position from guard on top but Cager is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cager is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Cager in particular looking to stall. Nice strikes from Cager there. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Warrick Cager dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Cager dives in and grabs Zelda's left leg, looking for a takedown. Zelda pushes down on Cager's head and hops out. No luck with that takedown attempt from Cager. Cager shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Warrick Cager. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cager shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Zelda as he jumps to the side. Cager is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Zelda's half guard. Cager winds up and cracks Zelda with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Cager slips a nice elbow through Zelda's hands, connecting with Zelda's forehead. Cager wants to control but Zelda is keeping him busy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ground and pound from Cager. Zelda is trying to maintain the position but Cager is very close to passing his half guard. Cager winds up and cracks Zelda with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cager lands with a punch from half guard. We've been informed that Zelda has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Zelda taking some punishment here, with Cager in his half guard. Ground and pound from Cager. Zelda wants to improve his position but Cager is controlling well.
Zelda wants to get back to full guard but Cager has passed into side control. A lull in the action here. Cager landing a few strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cager moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Cager working the ground and pound from side control. Cager wants to control but Zelda is keeping him busy. Zelda tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cager wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Cager scores with punches from side control. Zelda is trying to control Cager's posture but Cager avoids it. Cager is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Zelda's shoulder. That is not cool. Cager is working Zelda over with some ground and pound from side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cager working the ground and pound from side control. Zelda is not content to let Cager control the position. Cager working the head with strikes. Cager lands a decent elbow from side control. Cager lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Zelda down.
Cager in side control lands a decent elbow. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Zelda can do anything to dispel that myth. Cager lands some shots froms side control. Check out the look on Cager's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Cager looks up at the clock and then as Zelda takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Cager smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Zelda is looking for a sweep. Cager landing a few strikes. Cager grinds an elbow into Zelda's temple. Cager is putting a hurting on Zelda here, landing some big shots from side control. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cager working the head and body with strikes. Cager working the ground and pound. Cager is working Zelda over with some ground and pound from side control. Zelda taking a bit of punishment here - Cager scoring with strikes. Cager remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Cager lands a few punches from side control.

Cager working some strikes from top position. Cager trying to control the position from guard on top but Zelda is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cager throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Zelda works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Cager with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Zelda keeping moving, preventing Cager from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cager loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Cager is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Cager throws an elbow that misses. Zelda uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cager's guard. Nice move by Zelda! The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Cager shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Zelda as he avoids it easily. Zelda gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Cager's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Cager trying to control but Zelda is working from the bottom. Cager chips away with some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cager landing some decent shots from guard. Cager in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Cager keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Zelda's head. Cager landing some decent shots from guard. Cager stands up over Zelda, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Cager's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Cager postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Cager is working Zelda over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Cager postures up and lands a big shot to Zelda's brow.
And that's the end of the fight! Warrick Cager showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cager, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
