The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Murphy drives through and clinches with Nickal against the ropes.
Nickal pulls guard successfully.
Murphy slips nicely into half guard. Nickal is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Murphy seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Murphy is looking for a kimura but Nickal is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Murphy to get the leverage. Nickal is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Murphy pulls his head out easily. Murphy trying to control from half guard but Nickal is working away. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Murphy looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Nickal looking for submissions from an awkward position here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Murphy seems to be working for a kimura but Nickal defends the submission attempt.
