PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 23980 p4p, 23930 weight class) and Kulata Bitok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 50 - 5, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 52 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kulata Bitok!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Buktot shoots in looking for a takedown. Bitok tries to sprawl out of it but Buktot keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bitok manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bitok is trying to counter with his kicks.
Buktot shoots in and drives through. Bitok sprawls well.
Bitok raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bitok gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Buktot to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Bitok wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Buktot controlling from the top position.
Bitok throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Buktot is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Buktot postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Bitok holds on and takes a little breather.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Bitok gets a takedown into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Buktot is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bitok's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bitok's back!
Buktot biding his time, looking for the opening.
Buktot has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bitok is trying to break free.
Bitok trying to control the hands but Buktot breaks the grip.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Bitok trying to control the action but Buktot just sinks the hooks in.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Dawindi Buktot dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!

Bitok fails with a takedown attempt.

Bitok darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buktot is trying to get back to full guard.
Bitok is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bitok keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Buktot is trying to control but can't.
Dawindi Buktot overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Bitok passes into side control, despite Buktot's attempt to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bitok is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Buktot's shoulder. That is not cool.
Bitok working away.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Buktot shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bitok pinned against the cage. Bitok gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Bitok closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Buktot to the mat! Buktot manages to get full guard.
Bitok wants to pass the guard but Buktot is keeping the position.
Bitok controls from within his opponent's guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kulata Bitok showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Bitok looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
As Bitok backs away, Buktot returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Bitok displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Buktot.
Bitok tries to counter by closing the distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bitok closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bitok is keen to just control but Buktot is a slippery customer.
Buktot trying to control here.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Bitok seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Buktot does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Buktot is trying is best to control the position here.
Bitok is controlling the pace.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Buktot dives in and scores a takedown into Bitok's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bitok is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Bitok can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Buktot controls the pace.
Bitok seems keen to control Buktot's posture.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dawindi Buktot.
I think Buktot has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
