PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Higanti Libat (ranked 23636 p4p, 23870 weight class) and Wala Sapi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wala Sapi is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 51 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Higanti Libat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 42 - 40 - 8, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wala Sapi!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Sapi shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sapi was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Libat is trying to control Sapi's posture but Sapi avoids it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Libat is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sapi taking a breather here.

Libat wants to control but Sapi postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Sapi changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Libat looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Sapi controls the position.

Sapi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sapi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Libat parries the strikes from Sapi easily there. Sapi is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Libat to escape.

Libat can't do much from the bottom here.
Sapi is staying tight to Libat's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Libat manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Libat is trying to maintain the position but Sapi is very close to passing his half guard.
Sapi content to control rather than advance.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Libat drives through with a takedown into guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Libat engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Sapi has momentary wrist control but Libat slips an elbow through the middle.
Sapi controlling the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Wala Sapi dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Sapi fails with the takedown.
Sapi looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Libat was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Sapi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
No luck for Sapi with that takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sapi shoots in but Libat avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Libat throws a quick counter head kick but Sapi was just out of range.
Higanti Libat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wala Sapi.

Sapi has his takedown stuffed
and Libat counters with a left and a right that stings Sapi.

Sapi gets a double leg takedown into Libat's guard.
Libat looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sapi is one step ahead there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sapi is fighting to break Libat's control of his arms but Libat is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Libat being controlled here, momentarily.
Libat is adopting a defensive guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sapi is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Libat is adopting a defensive guard.
Sapi wants to pass the guard but Libat is keeping the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Libat shoots in looking for a takedown but Sapi manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Libat's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Libat closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Libat lands in his opponent's guard.

Sapi is adopting a defensive guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Higanti Libat will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Libat scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Sapi is not content to let Libat control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sapi is letting Libat control him for a moment.
Libat looking to control but instead Sapi has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Libat trying to control the pace.
Sapi preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Libat in particular looking to stall.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Libat gets a takedown into half guard.

Sapi trying to control but Libat postures up.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Libat connects with a nice short shot to Sapi's temple.
Libat trying to mount his opponent but Sapi defends it.
Sapi has his hands clasped together around Libat's back. He's all about the action.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Libat perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Sapi is trying to control but can't.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sapi is controlling Libat's position as best he can from this difficult position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Sapi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Libat drops down looking for a counter takedown but Sapi sprawls and moves away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Higanti Libat showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Libat has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
